The Title track from POST SELF the 2017 album from GODFLESH. Released by: AVALANCHE RECORDINGS Release date: 17 November 2017. supported by 46 fans who also own Post Self - single. Just a huge thank you to Justin for releasing this album, really needed this! polpomat. Duchess, Veiled EP by jesu. supported by 43 fans who also own Post Self - single. Not sure if JKB has called it a day with the Jesu project - nothing recently, which is a shame as it's gems like this that made it so special. All great tracks as usual, though I do seem to have the alt version of Veiled on repeat more than regularly. Suicide Estate Antibiotic Armageddon by JK FLESH.

Post Self is full-length number two since their return and, according to the press material, sees the duo exploring themes of anxiety, depression, fear, mortality, and paternal/maternal relationships. Both are tracks that are likely to fit in various spots anywhere along the line in the more jarring sides of the Godflesh discography; most appropriately Pure and Selfless. No Body has a definite dance floor sensibility, but also chimes in with acerbity at the hand of drums that sound like metallic shards and sustained icy guitar progressions that fall somewhere between the calamity most Godflesh proponents understand, Jesu’s soundscape-y shoegaze and the much underappreciated compositions of Dutch instrumentalists, Kong.

It was released on 17 November 2017 through frontman Justin Broadrick's own record label, Avalanche Recordings, and was the band's second album since reforming in 2010. The single "Post Self" was released for streaming on 31 October 2017, and a second track, "Be God", was released for streaming on 11 November 2017, six days in advance of the full release

It was released ahead of Post Self on 31 October 2017 through frontman Justin Broadrick's own label, Avalanche Recordings, as a digital download. Post Self", the introductory and title track of Godflesh's eighth studio album, is one of only a few songs on the release to feature a traditional metal riff.

Godflesh - Post Self It's hard to overstate the impact Justin Broadrick has left on underground music. Whether we're talking extreme metal, post-rock or techno (most recently as JK Flesh), Broadrick, since joining Napalm Death in 1985, has been a consequential presence. The LP's opening run recalls Streetcleaner, the group's most influential album, only now the production is clearer, the songs more focused. You can better hear, for example, the rust in the joints of cut-up rhythms like "Parasite"'s.

Post Self is the second Godflesh album since Justin Broadrick and .

Post Self smoothes out around Mirror of Finite Light and becomes more sonic massage than club to the cranium. The drum machine pulse doesn’t so much relax as blend more cunningly into the surrounding noise. Whereas World felt like a gleeful repudiation of Broadrick’s seismic experimentations, Post Self finds the duo restless and roaming, drawing as much variation into their creation as possible while remaining recognizably Godflesh  . Godflesh’s Post Self is out today on Avalanche Recordings. Listen to the title track here and purchase the album here. Green, Godflesh, Justin Broadrick.

  • Forget "A World Lit Only By Fire". NOW they're back.

  • I agree this is a better album. Definitely a groovier affair!

  • Absolutely agree, I felt “A World Lit Only By Fire” tried too hard to reclaim their throne of heaviness, foregoing the atmospherics that made Godflesh such a powerhouse. Here they get the balance right.

  • Yes, indeed. This is really great. One of the best in their history.

  • "A world lit only by fire" is their greatest album !
