Monty Alexander In a career spanning five decades, pianist Monty Alexander has built a reputation exploring the worlds of American jazz, popular song, and the music of his native Jamaica, finding in each a sincere spirit of musical expression. In the process, he has performed and recorded with artists from every corner of the musical universe: Frank Sinatra, Ray Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Clark Terry, Quincy Jones, Ernest Ranglin, Barbara Hendricks, Sly Dunbar, and Robbie Shakespeare, among many others. Three releases are in the works for 2011-2012: a trio album on JLP records, an album featuring Monty Alexander's presentation, Harlem-Kingston Express, on the Motema label, in addition to a piano solo album comprised of Monty Alexander's own compositions on Arbors records. John Clayton is a natural born multitasker.

Monty Alexander (born Montgomery Bernard Alexander on June 6, 1944 in Kingston, Jamaica) is a jazz pianist, who also plays the melodica. His playing has a strong Caribbean influence and swinging feeling, but he has also been influenced by Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, Wynton Kelly, and Ahmad Jamal.

Angel's Tribute To Duke Ellington features loving interpretations of the jazz master's works from artists like Earl Hines, Cecil Taylor and Sir Roland Hanna. Randy Weston begins the album with a dedication to Ellington, then Hanna performs "Take The 'A' Train" and "I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good).
