Doomsday for the Deceiver is the debut album by Flotsam and Jetsam. It is the only album by Flotsam and Jetsam with Jason Newsted before his departure for Metallica. Most lyrics were written by Newsted; his songwriting contributions also appeared on the band's next album No Place for Disgrace and their 2012 album Ugly Noise.

Doomsday for the Deceiver. There was a 3-disc box-set version of "Doomsday For The Decevier" released in 2006, for the 20th Anniversary. Disc one consists of the album and bonus tracks from the '85 Iron Tears demo: 11. Iron Tears (demo) (4:05) 12. I Live You Die (demo) (6:06). Disc two has the album remixed and released and with bonus tracks from the '85 Metal Shock demo: 11. Hammerhead (demo) (6:34) 12. The Evil Sheik (demo) (5:26) 13. Album (Studio full-length). Thrash Metal, Speed Metal. Evil and wicked dreamer, creator of sins, Ultimate deceiver; longing to take you in. He promises earthly glory, if you play his game; "I won't let the firebombs hurt you, just Number your head and take my name. Belial begins his scheming, treacherous plan, Turns brother on brother, toys with the leaders of man. He creates before them illusions of broken truce, A wicked plot of deception, that commanders cannot refuse. In a short time he has control, USA, Russia, chaos from pole to pole

Though a little rough in the production department, Flotsam & Jetsam's first album, Doomsday for the Deceiver, attempts both short bursts of thrashing intensity ("Desecrator," "Iron Tears") as well as extended, multi-part epics ("Metalshock" and the title track). Bassist and lyricist Jason Newsted occasionally attempts to squeeze too many words into some songs, but also displays a refreshing sense of humor (a rarity in this genre) on "Hammerhead" and "She Took an Ax. ". is rather good but the nine-minute-plus title.
